Modified on Thu, 17 Apr at 4:24 PM

Install the RDE300i according to the following instructions from Section 5 of the RDE300i User Guide.

Step 1: Mounting

  • Mount the RDE300i as shown in Section 6 of the RDE300i User Guide, observing all listed requirements for mounting location, use of mounting holes, and enclosure orientation.

Step 2: Power and Communication

Step 3: M Cables

  • Connect the RDE300i M+/M- cables to a single PV module, per Section ‎7.2 of the RDE300i User Guide  and per the wiring diagram in Figure ‎7‑4.

DO NOT INTERCHANGE MODULE AND STRING CABLES. Follow the wiring diagram carefully. Connections labelled “Module” or “M” must go to a single PV module. Do not interchange the Module and String inputs, which could result in damage to the product or interconnected equipment.

DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL THIS STEP IS COMPLETE. Installing cables labelled “S” before cables labelled "M” may result in damage to the product or interconnected equipment.

Step 4: RTD

Step 5: Disconnect String

For the 810275-01 RDE300i in-line version with String cables only:

  • DISCONNECT THE STRING FROM ALL OTHER STRINGS, SOURCES, AND LOADS.
    1. OPEN THE IN-LINE FUSE THAT CONNECTS THE STRING TO THE PV STRING HARNESS, IF PRESENT.
    2. OPEN THE STRING CONNECTION AT THE STRING COMBINER BOX.
    3. DISCONNECT THE STRING FROM ANY OTHER CIRCUITS.

THIS STEP AND ALL FOLLOWING STEPS MUST BE PERFORMED BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL ONLY. FOLLOW ALL LOCAL AND SITE-SPECIFIC SAFETY REQUIREMENTS.

DO NOT CONNECT OR DISCONNECT S-/S+ CABLES WHILE THE STRING IS CONNECTED TO ANY OTHER STRINGS, SOURCES, OR LOADS. During installation, the string must be disconnected from all other strings, batteries, power sources, loads, and inverters in the array.

Step 6: S Cables

For the 810275-01 RDE300i in-line version with String cables only:

  • Do not perform this step during daylight hours.

  • Connect the RDE300i S-/S+ cables to complete the string circuit, per Section ‎7.2 of the RDE300i User Guide  and per the wiring diagram in Figure ‎7‑4

DO NOT CONNECT S-/S+ CABLES DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS. Connect the S cables before or after daylight hours to prevent possible damage to the product or interconnected equipment.

DO NOT INTERCHANGE M+/M- AND S-/S+ CABLES. Follow the wiring diagram carefully. Connections labelled “Module” or “M” must go to a single PV module. Do not interchange the Module and String inputs, which could result in damage to the product or interconnected equipment.

DO NOT CONNECT S-/S+ CABLES UNTIL STEP 3 – CONNECTION OF PV MODULE CABLES – IS COMPLETE. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the product or interconnected equipment or may result in safety hazards.

Step 7: Reconnect String

For the 810275-01 RDE300i in-line version with String cables only:

  • Reconnect the in-line fuse to the PV string harness, if present.
  • Reconnect the string connection at the string combiner box, if present.

THIS STEP MUST BE PERFORMED BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL ONLY. FOLLOW ALL LOCAL AND SITE-SPECIFIC SAFETY REQUIREMENTS.

Additional Steps

  • For more information on system configurations that integrate the RDE300i as a Leader with other sensors including additional RDE300i units, the Mars™ soiling sensor, and/or RC22™ PV reference cell, see Atonometrics document 880100
  • For configuration of the RDE300i unit, see section ‎8 of the RDE300i User Guide .

Uninstalling

If it is necessary to uninstall the RDE300i:

  • Disconnect the string per section ‎5.5
  • Disconnect the S cables
  • Disconnect the M cables
  • Disconnect all other cables

Follow safety precautions: Qualified personnel only. Observe all safety precautions listed in chapter 2, “Safety”. Do not disconnect PV cables under load. Only qualified personnel may disconnect and connect PV strings. Follow all site-specific and local rules. At some sites, disconnection of PV cables during daylight hours is prohibited.

Cleaning

Clean with dry cloth: To clean the product, use a dry cloth only.
