RC22 mounting solutions

1. Standard Mounting Plate

The Standard Mounting Plate (610494) is included with each RC22. Using the included M5 screws, the plate may be attached to the bottom of the RC22 in either X or Y orientation as well as to the left or right sides of the RC22.

Note: The included M5 screws are also used to mount the RC22 to any of the other mounting solutions shown on this page, and should be saved when removing the Standard Mounting Plate and changing to one of the other mounting solutions.

2. Dual Mounting Plate

The Dual Mounting Plate (610533) can be used to mount either one or two RC22 units. This plate is ideal for use mounting the RC22 on the front side of a fixed-tilt PV array on purlins or customer-supplied purlin extensions such as angle extrusion or Unistrut.

RC22 units mount to the 610533 plate using the M5 screws included with each RC22. Other hardware to mount the 610533 plate itself to the customer's racking must be customer-supplied.

3. Torque Tube Mounting Kit

The Torque Tube Mounting Kit (810313) allows mounting RC22 units on a torque tube of a single-axis tracking PV array. The Torque Tube Mounting kit clamps around square, circular, and octagonal torque tubes that are 5 to 6 inches (127 to 152 mm) in diameter.

RC22 units mount to the top plate of the 810313 kit using the M5 screws included with each RC22.

Use the kit to mount either one or two RC22 units on the front (top) side of the torque tube. Optionally, you may purchase an additional 610533 dual mounting plate to mount up to two RC22 units on the rear (bottom) side of the torque tube as shown below.

4. Torque Tube Mounting Kit with Front and Rear Mounts

The Torque Tube Mounting Kit (810313) can be used to mount RC22 units on both the front (top) and rear (bottom) plane of array, by purchasing an additional 610533 flat plate and installing it on the bottom side of the torque tube mounting clamp, as shown below.

RC22 units mount to the plates of the 810313 kit using the M5 screws included with each RC22.

Note: depending on torque tube shape and diameter, the top and/or bottom bracket of the clamp may need to be rotated 180 degrees upside-down from the view shown below. For example, this might be desirable with a square torque tube.

5. Bifacial Rear Mounting Clamp Bracket

The Bifacial Rear Mounting Clamp Bracket (810302) allows easily mounting the RC22 on the rear side of framed bifacial modules without shading the modules.

Using this bracket, the RC22 quickly clamps over a module frame and sits over the frames of two neighboring modules. The RC22 can be mounted to the clamp in multiple orientations and the clamp can be mounted anywhere along the module frame.

RC22 units mount to the 810302 bracket using the M5 screws included with each RC22.

For bifacial single-axis tracking systems, we recommend using two rear-side RC22 units, mounting one RC22 on the east side of the torque tube and one on the west side.

For bifacial fixed-tilt systems, we recommend using two rear-side RC22 units, mounting the units on the east and west sides of a module.

6. Combining Front and Rear Solutions

The Bifacial Rear Mounting Clamp Bracket (810302) shown above in option 5 can be combined with the solutions shown in option 2 or option 3 above for front-side mounting, as shown below.

Note that this option allows mounting multiple rear-side RC22 units, which is desirable for single-axis trackers. For this scenario we recommend using one east-side and one west-side RC22 on the rear, as discussed above.

7. Tube Mounting

The 610493 tube mounting plate permits easily mounting the RC22 on a tube, such as a crossarm in a meteorological (met) station, using customer-supplied U-bolts and nuts.

8. Mars-RC22 Mount

The 810301 Mars-RC22 mounting plate kit permits easily mounting RC22 directly the side of a Mars Soiling Sensor unit (810230-20). This is used in applications where the RC22 irradiance measurement is automatically corrected by the Mars Soiling Sensor to eliminate the requirement for cleaning the RC22.
